Can anyone fly in a hot air balloon?

We can accommodate most guests between the ages of 6 and 90, provided they can stand for the duration of the flight, climb in and out of the basket, and follow safety instructions. However, pregnant women, children under 6, and individuals with recent surgeries, severe mid-body pain, fragile or broken bones, mental illness, or those requiring mobility aids cannot fly. Please contact us if you have a child younger than 6 to discuss special arrangements.

Why do we have to fly so early in the morning?

Hot air balloons require stable winds for optimal and safe operation, and the conditions are most ideal just after sunrise. While afternoon flights happen in some northern countries, the high temperatures in Sri Lanka make afternoon flying unfeasible.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Flight availability is entirely dependent on weather conditions; a sunny sky does not guarantee a safe flight. The pilot makes the final decision on whether to take off or cancel, constantly monitoring the weather and consulting with meteorological institutions and the Sri Lankan Air Force. If your flight is canceled due to weather, there is no cost to you of any kind.

What should I wear and bring?

We recommend dressing for the existing weather conditions and wearing comfortable, low-heeled shoes. You should definitely bring a camera or smartphone to capture the memories (our crew will also help take photos of you!), and you may also want to bring binoculars, sunglasses, and a hat.

How high will we fly?

Our flights are designed to give you the best views without missing delightful details on the ground. Depending on the weather conditions, the pilot may fly as low as tree-level or rise up to a few thousand feet. The maximum altitude limit set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka is 2000 feet above ground level.
